CheckDots records which habits you checked off on which days. That is the whole app, and it is very nearly the whole of this page.

What is stored

• Your email address, so the account exists and your history reaches your other devices. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your address, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us.
• Your habits — their names, colours and order.
• Your check-ins — which habit was marked done on which day. A date, and nothing finer: no times, no location, no notes.

What is not

There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no profiling. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone for their own purposes. The app asks for no access to your contacts, photos, location or health data, because it has no use for any of them.

Where it is kept

Accounts and data are held in Google Firebase — Authentication and Cloud Firestore — which stores them on Google's servers in the European Union. Google acts as a processor on our behalf. Signing in with Apple or Google involves that provider only for the sign-in itself; they confirm who you are and are not told what you track.

A copy is also kept on your own device so the app opens without waiting for the network. Reminders are scheduled locally by your phone and are never sent through a server.

Removing it

Profile → Account → Delete account removes your habits, every check-in and the account itself. It is immediate and cannot be undone; keep a copy first with Profile → Data → Export data if you want one. Signing in with Apple also revokes the token that connected your Apple ID to the app.

You can export your data at any time as a CSV file, without deleting anything.

Children

CheckDots is not directed at children and collects nothing that would identify one beyond the email address used to create an account.

Changes

If what the app stores ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date above moves. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
